Thanks for visiting my website!

I’m Nkwa Asonye (pronounced NN-quah ah-SOWN-yay), and I’m a sports reporter and anchor for WFSB, Connecticut’s CBS station. I’ve been in the business for more than 14 years — thanks for taking the time to visit!

As a kid growing up in New York, I remember watching and hearing legends like John Sterling, Gus Johnson, and Beth Mowins, and what I remember most is how much they seemed to enjoy themselves. It could be an instant classic, it could be a blowout - it didn’t matter. There’s nowhere else they would rather be, and they made it look easy!

Fast forward to my freshman year at The George Washington University where I had a chance to call play-by-play for the campus radio station. My first basketball broadcast ever had former President Barack Obama in attendance. (Like I needed more pregame pressure.) From there on out, I was hooked.

Passionate is a word that gets thrown around a lot, but it’s the best way to describe how I approach each and every time I’m on camera or behind a microphone. There are so many stories to tell and opportunities to interact with talented people from every walk of life. It’s an unparalleled experience, and being able to share that with any audience is a privilege.

Please check out the “Demos” page for samples of my work and subscribe to my sports & culture podcast In My Bag with Nkwa Asonye, available wherever you get your podcasts.

I look forward to connecting with you!
